What Ask's server keeps
- Your email and subscription, from Stripe, which handles payment. Your card never reaches Ask.
- A random id for each Mac the key is on, and the Mac's name, so the three-Mac limit works.
- How many answers, searches and checks you used each day, and what they cost, for the limits.
- Web search results, for 7 days, shared by everyone who asks the same thing; not linked to you.
What it doesn't
- Your questions and answers. They pass through to answer you and are not stored. Your history stays on your Mac.
- Your books and notes. They stay on your Mac; the passages an answer needs are sent with the question.
Who else handles it
- To answer: Fireworks (the AI model), Tavily (web search), TypeSafe (checks). To run the service: Cloudflare (servers), Stripe (payments), Resend (email).
